Latalli is a village in the Svaneti region, 9km till Mestia and is 1700M from the sea level. It takes about 15 min to drive to Mestia by a motor road. This was once a free community of people not subservient to any lord, situated on the edge of Svaneti and thus always well fortified. The communities on its lower approaches were held by princes. There have been built many battle towers to protect the community from the lords; some of them are still present. Ancient fortifications left from the medieval time can also be seen.

Khornabuji Castle AKA Castle of Queen Tamara is ancient castle in this village. It was probably constructed originally at the end of the 1st millennium BC, at which time it was the only fortification controlling the valleys of the Iori and Alazani rivers.
